Congratulations to our new board of directors elected August 4, 2008!

A little bit of history:

In July of 1991, thirteen men gathered to start the Key West Wreckers Leather/Levi Club, a club for men interested in the leather lifestyle and charitable fund raising primarily for the local community. We are legally known as the Wreckers of Key West Charitable Association, Inc., a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. You can usually find some of the Wreckers at our home bar, Saloon One, in the back of the 801 Bourbon bar at 801 Duval Street in Key West, Florida.

As with any evolving organization, the club has gone through changes, but the mission has remained the same: fund raising to support education and awareness of the AIDS pandemic; for health, housing and basic needs issues; to promote an understanding of the "leather lifestyle"; to promote safe, sane and consensual adult sex; and to provide financial assistance to worthy organizations, primarily local to the Key West community.

The Wreckers annually hold several major fundraising parties, typically surrounding holidays including President's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fantasy Fest, Thanksgiving and an end of year "holiday" party. We have a monthly "bar night" as an opportunity to meet the Wreckers. The bar nights are typically held at Saloon One with a 50/50 raffle for cash and prizes. We are currently raising upwards of $30,000 per year - giving money to organizations such as AIDS Help, MCC, PAWS, Hospice/VNA, Domestic Abuse Shelter, the Servicemen's Legal Defense Fund, AMFAR, KW Symphony, AIDS Brigade, Julius Adams AIDS Task Force, KW Police Department, KW Naval Museum Association, Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys, Wesley House, GLCC, Mel Fisher Museum, Toys for Tots, One Human Family, Take Stock in Children, Keys Kids, Helpline, MS fund in the Keys and more.
